At the 2024 Summit, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasizes the importance of teamwork for a united SCO Region

As he launched the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged more cooperation among member states.

In his introductory remarks, Sharif, 73, referred to the organization as a beacon of multilateralism. In addition to 16 other nations that participated as observers or dialogue partners, the leaders of the member states—China, India, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus—also attended.

The Prime Minister stressed in his speech that the worldwide organization, which is based on the "Shanghai spirit," speaks for more than 40% of the world's population. He greeted guests to Islamabad and praised the occasion as evidence of the close cooperation and ties between several countries.

In order to improve regional collaboration, security, and sustainable development, the premier urged the leaders to make use of the platform to share best practices, brainstorm ideas, and create tangible action plans.

"We have the ability to promote socioeconomic development, strengthen peace and stability in the region, and raise the standard of living for our people," PM Shehbaz said.

The prime minister emphasized the value of cooperation in tackling common issues, pointing out that the world is currently going through a historic period of change that is impacting many social, political, economic, and security spheres.

He urged cooperation and restated Pakistan's dedication to regional peace, stability, and development, emphasizing the necessity of cooperation in sectors including tourism, education, reducing poverty, and empowering women and young people throughout the SCO region.

In order to achieve meaningful results that complement the goals of all member states, leaders are anticipated to concentrate on developing stronger relationships and looking into chances for reciprocal advantage as talks move forward.
