In Canada another member of the PIA cabin staff disappears

The 12th such event in a single year has apparently occurred in Canada, where another flight attendant for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has vanished. Concerns were raised about the persistent problem of PIA employees not reporting back to work during stopovers overseas when the missing crew member, known as Mohsin Raza, vanished during a layover in Toronto.

On October 13, Raza, who was stationed in Islamabad, was supposed to catch aircraft PK 784 from Toronto to Karachi. He was discovered gone from his hotel, though, after neglecting to report for duty. Raza was last seen at the hotel prior to his scheduled trip. He had been working as a steward on the Islamabad-Toronto route.

This instance demonstrates a developing pattern in PIA where flight attendants have disappeared following layovers, especially on foreign routes. The issue still exists despite the airline's several attempts to address it, such as requiring cabin crew members to present their passports to airline officials while in Canada.

An investigation into Raza's disappearance has been started, according to a PIA official. Similar situations have been handled by the airline in the past, raising questions about its internal procedures and the efficacy of the safeguards put in place to stop them. Discipline is being considered, the statement continued.

Twelve crew members have disappeared in the past year, and PIA is under growing pressure to address these recurring problems. According to reports, the airline's management is examining its procedures to improve supervision of cabin crew members while they are deployed abroad, particularly in nations where crew disappearances have increased.
