Indian FM Jaishankar calls on members of the SCO Summit in 2024 to promote trust and combat extremism

During his speech at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar urged member states to cooperate on the basis of respect for one another and sovereign equality.

In his speech, the top Indian diplomat emphasized the importance of maintaining territorial integrity and sovereignty in cooperative endeavors, claiming that these values are necessary for productive collaboration. He also urged the SCO to have open discussions, build trust, and advance good neighborly relations.

According to him, the SCO's main objective of fighting terrorism, separatism, and extremism is desperately needed in the current environment.

Jaishankar urged member nations to be resolute in tackling these urgent concerns and reiterated the SCO's adherence to its founding charter. Additionally, he argued that the SCO should take the lead in changing international organizations, emphasizing the need for a UN Security Council that is more inclusive, accountable, and representative.
