Russia and Pakistan agree to increase cooperation in a number of areas

In the fields of trade, industry, energy, connectivity, research, technology, and education, Pakistan and Russia have committed to pursuing active communication and collaboration.

On the sidelines of the 23rd SCO Heads of Council of Heads of Government meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin met in Islamabad today and came to this accord.

In addition to highlighting the positive momentum in Pakistan-Russia relations over the past 20 years, the two prime ministers talked about the full range of bilateral cooperation.

On every topic of shared interest, the two prime ministers decided to continue working closely together. They also agreed on expanded collaboration between the two countries' banking sectors to assist commerce and investment, as well as linguistic exchanges between the two nations to improve people-to-people interactions.

Enhancing collaboration at multilateral venues, such as the Shanghai collaboration Organization and the United Nations, was agreed upon by both parties.

Recalling his first international trip to Moscow, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he hoped to turn these pleasant recollections into a lifelong friendship with Russia. He reiterated Pakistan's dedication to fortifying its defense, economic, and political ties with the Russian Federation.

In addition, he expressed gratitude to Russia for backing Pakistan's application to join BRICS, which is a step toward closer cooperation on the international scene.

Shehbaz Sharif also mentioned his fruitful meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Astana in July of this year, whereby they decided to significantly improve ties between the two nations. In order to improve connection between Pakistan and Russia, he further underlined the necessity of direct flights between the two nations.

The Russian Prime Minister praised Pakistan's outstanding preparations for the 23rd meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.

He also expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government and people for their kind reception and excellent hospitality shown to him and the Russian team.
